EdgeX has brought together nationally-renowned healthcare experts to form an Advisory Board. The Board will provide a multidisciplinary outlook on hospital and ASC operations and the implications for patients and providers. Members will contribute their clinical best practices, financial knowledge and operational expertise to advance applications for the EdgeX Network.

About the Board:
William Akrawi MD, Director of Perioperative Services at Mission Hospital
Dr. William Akrawi is a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 30 years of experience at Mission Hospital and CHOC Children’s Hospital. He is an alumnus of Loma Linda University, University of California at San Diego and Harvard Medical school.
Dr. Akrawi brings 25 years of experience in industrial product design and process engineering in both the healthcare and industrial manufacturing fields. He is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
Dr Akrawi has extensive experience in healthcare leadership. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Perioperative Services and the Anesthesia Service Director at Mission Hospital where he co-manages the business operations as well as leading strategic quality assurance and process improvement projects.
James Bredenkamp, MD, Medical Director at Mission Surgery Center
Dr. James Bredenkamp is a lifelong native of Southern California. He attended the University of California, Irvine, where he received a degree in Biology, after which he attended Cal (University of California, San Francisco) for medical school. After graduating, Dr. Bredenkamp completed a six-year residency in surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) specializing in Head and Neck Surgery and Otolaryngology. While at UCLA, he also spent a year in basic science research investigating the immunology of cancer.
Dr. Bredenkamp is board certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has authored over 20 scientific papers and has contributed five book chapters. He has five surgical equipment patents, and has served on several public medical advisory boards.
Dr. Bredenkamp is a senior partner and past managing partner of Head and Neck Associates of Orange County, one of the largest single specialty groups in the country. He has served as Chief of Surgery at Mission Hospital, Chief of Surgery at Children’s Hospital at Mission, Chief of Head and Neck Surgery at Mission Hospital, Saddleback Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and as Medical Director of Mission Surgery Center. He is a director of the Perioperative Care Management group, LLC, and is on the board of Partner’s Bank of California.
Dr. Bredenkamp is the Executive Medical Director of the Leonard Cancer Institute at Providence Mission Hospital, and on the Board of Directors of the Mission Hospital Foundation. He has been named as “Best Doctors” in his specialty by Consumers’ Guide to Top Doctors, Orange County Medical Society, Orange Coast Magazine, and US News and World Report. His professional interest is in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction, and Endocrine surgery.
Sarah Emanuele, Director of Pharmacy, SSM Health
Sarah brings over a decade of transformative leadership in hospital pharmacy, beginning with a solid foundation earned from a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a specialized two-year residency in medication systems and operations at the University of Wisconsin. Following the residency, Sarah made significant strides in pharmacy leadership at UW Health’s academic flagship hospital, laying the groundwork for a career defined by innovation, regulatory excellence, and operational improvement.
As the current leader for two of SSM Health’s hospitals, Sarah leads with a future-forward approach, merging the latest technological advances with the essential human aspect of healthcare. This leadership philosophy emphasizes the importance of understanding human needs to guide technological integration within healthcare settings, ensuring that patient care remains at the core of all advancements.
In addition to steering compounding and hazardous drug handling committees, Sarah has played a crucial role in advising Edge-X, crafting a user-centric software system that simplifies pharmacy compliance across health systems. By focusing on smart visual tools, Sarah ensures healthcare professionals can prioritize patient care, secure in the knowledge that Edge-X’s intuitive platform will navigate the complexities of compliance.
Tricia Killingsworth, Founder and CEO Health Care Innovation and Integration Consulting, LLC
Tricia has over 20 years of executive pharmacy leadership experience in large health systems. Renowned for her innovation and integration of pharmacy services Tricia pioneers clinical practice from innovative and virtual pharmacy services to data-driven intervention and decisions, blending grassroots pharmacy work with high-level leadership in pharmacy integration to drive seamless modernization.
She graduated with her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Washington and completed an ASHP Accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency and an ASHP Advanced Residency in Hospital Pharmacy Administration.
Tricia has worked in the pharmacy profession for more than 30 years practicing in a variety of settings including acute care, ambulatory care, retail, virtual care, and State Pharmacy associations. She has been actively engaged in pharmacy volunteer work serving on State and National Pharmacy Association Committee’s, Boards of Directors, and Executive Committees and recognized for her leadership skills receiving awards including Performance Excellence Award, Preceptor of the Year, Pharmacist of the Year and Professional Women of the Year.
Tricia has presented at local, state and national meetings on a variety of topics including telepharmacy, specialty pharmacy, technology in pharmacy, managing during difficult times, organizational design and transforming pharmacy services. She is published on the topics of Telepharmacy, Specialty Pharmacy and Organizational Design.
